It is hard to get into Stanford as they say and an applicant must have exceptionally good grades to get into Stanford. As hard as it is for STEM applicants it is harder for business and humanities though not completely impossible and all of this is to state that their 4% acceptance rate is no joke. Strong academics with a SAT score of 1550+ can position your application favorably among the top 35 % competing for a place.

Spectacular Academics :

Focus on getting the top grades in your academics. First and foremost Stanford is an Academic Institute and almost 96% of the freshmen have an average of a 3.96 GPA or more. Having a consistent high academic score will establish that fact that you are a reliable and diligent person. To state as an example, to get into Stanford one shouldn’t focus on getting just high scores in Math but choose the toughest math course and score the highest possible score in that.

Make up with SAT or ACT:

Given the possibility that your academic scores fall a little behind the expected line aim for scoring 1550 + or more on your SAT or an ACT above 34 %. As of now most students prefer to submit their ACT scores over SAT. If good at Math taking up ACT will put you in an advantageous position as they give more advanced math concepts and you won’t be given that many formulas.

Make your essays engaging and meaningful reflecting on an idea or an experience that you are genuinely excited about. Stanford requires four essays. You will have to write a personal essay on a topic given in the common application and answer three short answer questions in Stanford supplement. These essays are going to be direct reflection of your personality and abilities so focus on giving precise answers that are accurate to your experience and your essay can sum it all for your potential itself.

Point to note for non STEM:

When you are a non-STEM aspirant, you should be aware that most non STEM applicants will have A+ score in the basic Math and science classes so it is important that you focus on these subjects. As Stanford places higher significance to STEM you can choose parts of humanities that are used in computer science or math to help refine your analysis.

Bonus points:

Above everything else use a strategy exclusively for Stanford. Other factors such as recommendation letters, spectacular interview, being a first generation student, knowing alumni, racial and ethnic status, geographic residence, volunteer work and a recognizable work experience can put you in an advantageous position.
